Well, today’s a big day!! Today marks six years since I launched the first post here on ThePreppyMAG. It’s certainly been a crazy six years of fun and unexpected opportunities. When I first launched this blog, I had no idea where it would go. I just thought it was a fun place to document all of my outfits before jumping on the Long Island Railroad and heading to my fashion internship in the big city. Fast forward six years and I’m living in that city and this blog is the last remaining evidence of any fashion career. 😂
Ironically, my first post was called Gossip Girl Inspired, featuring a high-waisted crape J.Crew skirt, a button-up shirt, my signature hair bow and of course an Haute 2013 statement necklace. I’d be lying if I said I still didn’t secretly love this outfit. 😍 That said, this post is truly a blast to the past, the poor quality photography, my parent’s front yard as a backdrop, and C.Wonder, it was truly a time to be alive!
The influencer industry has changed 10-fold and it’s become much more than I ever imagined when I hit publish on that Gossip Gil post. Throughout the last six years, this blog has brought me so much happiness. It has been so exciting to have a creative outlet where I can express myself, continue my interest in fashion as well as build a strong community of little prepsters. However, within the six years, I almost shut ThePreppyMAG down 3 times due to fear of failure and frustration for not growing as fast as I wanted to. Of course, I wish that I was able to grow faster, but now I have so much more perspective on what it really takes to succeed in the blogosphere. For now, I’m just proud of what I’ve built so far while graduating from Boston University, working a full-time job in social marketing, building my life here in NYC, building relationships that matter to me and even becoming a dog mom!

1| What I Wore: The Billy Joel Concert. This one always cracks me up. I wrote this the first time I went to the Billy Joel concert in 2014 (yes, I already have been a second time) and every time Billy Joel plays in NYC, this post sees a spike in views.
2| How to Find That Perfect Formal Dress. Just a few short months after launching ThePreppyMAG, I had an opportunity to work with In The Pink (a Lilly Pulitzer signature store in Boston), it was a dream come true and ever since I’ve been wishing for another opportunity to work with Lilly. I was definitely naive in how crazy this opportunity was! All I did was DM the store on Twitter! 😂
3| Dressing For the Occasion. I vividly remember the day this post became a top-performer! I was on winter break from college and I seriously considered whether or not this whole blogging thing could be a full-time gig post-graduation.
4| Snow Bunny Chic in Stratton, VT. Y’all just love the view of Stratton, Mountain! Every time I post a post in this location, my stats go bananas. This was also the first time I shared my obsession with SPANX leggings (No, they did not just come out this year in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 🙄).
5| Dubli: What It Is And Why You Need To Be Using It. You guys are a bunch of shopaholics always looking for a good deal! Thankfully, I partnered with Dubli this past winter to give you the gif that is Dubli.
My Favorite Posts Through The Years
1| ThePreppyMAG Boutique Is Open. The day I opened my online boutique was truly magical. This was one of my biggest goals with the blog and it was so rewarding and emotional to finally see it come to life.
2| Spring Must-Haves. This was the first time I ever used a professional photographer and it felt freaking amazing. I was so uncomfortable posing for someone who wasn’t Tom or my Mom but Allie was (and still is) so amazing to work with and made me feel instantly comfortable.
3| New York Style of Mind. This is that Gossip Girl post all grown up. Goodbye iPhone photos and mom & dad’s front yard scenery, hello professional photography and Central Park.
4| Dear Tom, Happy 6 Year Anniversary. This year, I wrote an open letter to Tom for our anniversary. It’s not a coincidence that my romantic and blog anniversaries are aligned, Tom actually came up with the name ‘ThePreppyMAG’ and encouraged me every step of the way.
5| Ballet Inspired. This post always made me feel like my Carrie Bradshaw dreams came true. Not only does it check the boxes on all things ‘NYC blogger,’ (Pink tulle ✔️ Sparkes ✔️ Washington Square Park Arch ✔️ Taxi cabs ✔️) it was the first post ever that I had access to Reward Style (also know as LIKEtoKNOW.it) and that felt pretty monumental.
Now that I’m FULLY nostalgic and feeling all of the feels, I wanted to thank all of you beautiful people for reading ThePreppyMAG for all this time, buying from my little rinky-dink boutique, following along on my social media channels and so much more.
