Happy Valentine’s Day, my loves! I know it can be sometimes overplayed, but Valentine’s Day could be one of my favorite holidays. I just love celebrating all of the people that I love in my life, Tom, my friends, my family, my co-workers, myself etc., etc., etc.
Today, will be a bit of a different Valentine’s Day since Tom is traveling for work. While I’m definitely looking forward to celebrating with him over the upcoming long weekend, I’m equally as excited to have a night of ‘self love’ tonight. I’m going to hunker down with some new episodes of The Real Housewives (RHOBH, RHONJ, RHOA, you name it!), get my skincare on (so excited to try more of my Leaders USA face masks!), maybe even take a bath! BIG THINGS AHEAD!! 😉
In all seriousness, I can’t believe this will be mine and Tom’s 7th Valentine’s Day together! 😱😱😱 But when I got thinking about it, this will actually be the 3rd Valentine’s Day in our relationship that we’ll be spending apart– once when I was still in college, another when I had to work 😭 and now, a third when he has to work. I guess, that is what you call life? 🤷🏻♀️
No matter what your plans are today and tonight, the festiveness of this holiday is unmatched. Whether you are taken, single or don’t even know or care, you can appreciate the pink and red hues of the season. Check out how I’m dressing for the season below.
What I’m Wearing
As a pink enthusiast, it is obvious that I appreciate a good Valentine’s Day look. However, through the years my V-Day look has evolved. A few years ago, I’d be the first one to strut a feminine, bow-tiful look and even last year I was all tulle, but this year I’m taking a bit more muted approach. IS IT HAPPENING?!?! AM I FINALLY GIVING IN TO NYC STYLE TRENDS?! 😭😱🤷🏻♀️
While I haven’t totally given up on my colorful ensemble, I’ve been a bit more strategic with my color these days. You can definitely still find all of the pinks, reds, yellows, greens, and lots of blues in my closet, but I’m tending to ALWAYS pair with a more neutral colors like blacks, navys and whites to be a bit more sleek and subdued.
My Lilly-loving self (see here, here and here for examples of signature style) started to worry about WHY the hell this was happening, but I realized that it is just a little bit more realistic for my current lifestyle. While I’d love to be THAT blogger who is dressing up for events everyday, I’m really just sitting at my desk ad an advertising agency most of the day, so wearing a uber colorful outfit is kinda just obnoxious. Especially, in the dead winter.
That being said, my tips for a festive look tonight or even this weekend: 1) pick your favorite pink or red piece of clothing in your closet 2) match it with a simple black like I’ve done here or my favorite, navy 😍 3) throw on some killer OTK boots and you are golden!
Hope your day is full of love! 😘
Love that skirt so much! I haven’t tried anything from Shein before but outfits like this make me want to.
