We’re halfway through the week and I’m SOOOO ready for the long weekend ahead. This is a very, very, very special weekend not only is it a weekend I get to spend with my family up in the mountains, it is also a weekend of celebrating 6 years with Tom! Yes, 6 years! He’s put up with me for 6 years! I’m as shocked as you are!

While we’ve spent every year celebrating up in Stratton since we’ve met, we have also taken to a few NYC traditions since we’ve moved here. For example, a dinner at Bowery Meat Company is on the itinerary for Thursday. No matter how many years that we’ve been together, these little date nights are some of my favorite memories with Tom and actually inspired one of my pieces in ThePreppyMAG Boutique.

I’ll be talking a bit more about my relationship with Tom tomorrow here on the blog, but today I’m sharing one of my favorite date night looks for a night with your babe in the city.

What I’m Wearing

There is no doubt that getting ‘dressed up’ in the winter is simply terrible. You’re either freezing or look like a pilgrim. Seriously, Tom tells me I have the best ‘pilgrim style’ in winter! 😂 To be honest, this date night outfit is definitely on the warmer side, but you can BET that I’ll be taking an Uber or Lyft. In these temps, real pants are required to take the subway or walk.

I usually describe my ‘date night’ style as feminine NYC chic. I tend to choose darker hues in the winter, but always add a pop of color or a print (like this Leopard skirt), to add a bit of frill and flair to an otherwise simple outfit. The darker hues match the subdue NYC venues and the pop of color or print speaks to my girly personality.

That said, my number one priority, is honestly comfort not only in what I’m actually wearing (not itchy, isn’t too tight, etc.) but also just comfortably confident. There is nothing in this world that I’m more confident in than Tom and mine’s relationship, but I definitely want to feel good when I’m out with him. I have nothing to prove so WHY wouldn’t I wear something that I feel amazing in?

This skirt is just EVERYTHING to me and is perfect for a romantic night out. Not only does it tap into a current trend right now (HELLO LEOPARD!), the wrap-around silhouette is so flattering. I love how the top of this skirt is more form-fitting and flairs a bit towards the bottom with a feminine ruffle. If you are that you need this skirt (because you totally do!), I recommend sizing up a bit so the elastic waistband isn’t too tight.

I’m so excited to wear this little number for tomorrow night’s festivities! Be sure to check back tomorrow to learn a little bit more about our relationship. 🙂
