One of my favorite things about the holidays is all of the excuses to get dressed up! Even though it is cold and feels like it is always dark out, the holiday season comes with a re-energized reason to get out and hit the town. Now, it is no secret that I can be a straight-up grandma sometimes, but with so many different holiday events, decadent decorations and foodie traditions, there are just too many excuses to be a little less grandma-like this time of year.

If you are a long-time reader, you know just how grateful I am for my girlfriends (read here), and since this year brings all of my besties into New York that makes it the best time of the year. Since going to college, the holidays have become one of the only times of year that we all get back together no matter where we are in the world (different states, different countries, etc.). Even though we are constantly connected via text and social media, this time we have together is invaluable and when I make the best memories.

Since I associate myself with fellow grandmas, the majority of the time we spend together is actually in pajamas with lots of wine and snacks, but when we do decide to go out out on the town and pretend we are actually 26 for a minute, I love, love, love getting dressed up like I am here! When going out in the city, I prefer bringing them somewhere with a bit of a speakeasy-feel rather than a club, which makes this one-sleeved, bowtiful look  a PERFECT PICK.

What I’m Wearing

I’m pretty sure this bodysuit was MADE for me. I can never get enough bows and this bodysuit has not one, not two, but 5! However, even though there are five bows it doesn’t feel over-the-top AT ALL and actually very sleek and sexy (in my personal opinion). You may be asking, ‘Marie, why do you want to feel sleek and sexy when you go out with your girlfriends?! Don’t you have a boyfriend?!’ The answer is yes, but girls’ night out usually comes with just about 1M photoshoots so the stakes are high and what you wear with your girls is ACTUALLY more important than what you wear on date night, as it will be documented in extreme detail.

Overall, I’m totally digging the simple black top and jeans trend happening now. It is SO easy (love outfits that require little brainpower!) and looks amazing on just about everyone. I’m usually not a fan of light-wash jeans, especially in the winter, but I love the contrast with the pitch-black bodysuit in this ensemble.

When it comes to the classic black top and jeans ensemble, I pretty much always pair it with glistening gold accessories. For example, this Hermes belt that I’m wearing here or the gold-chained Chanel wallet-on-a-chain, but since I wanted a little holiday flair, I went with a red Gucci instead.

So let’s take a second and talk about this Gucci bag that has me like 😍 😍 😍. I actually got it from a new website called Vivrelle. Vivrelle is a luxury handbag and jewelry subscription service that just started a few months ago. Depending on your package, you can pick one or two different pieces from their luxury closet each month, making it perfect for bloggers like me! I have the Couture+ package, which means that I get to borrow one item from the Classique collection (items with a retail value under $4K) and one item from the Couture collection (items w every month. I’ve only been a member for the past month, but already a HUGE fan.

Of course, this one-sleeved madness is not ideal for the dropping temps here in New York City so I need to indulge just a little in my leopard obsession to keep warm. I was ahead of the trend last season when I snagged this snuggly leopard coat from Nordstrom and I’m SO happy I did now that I see leopard EVERYWHERE (including ThePreppyMAG Boutique 😉).
