This past weekend, my high school girlies and I took a little getaway up to Narrowsburg, New York and it was such a lovely weekend away. I’ve never been before and had no idea what to expect so looked up a few pictures before we went. After seeing this GORGEOUS woodland setting, which was the backyard of our Airbnb, I knew this cottagecore dress from Amazon had to come with me on the trip.

Narrowsburg is situated right alongside the Delaware River and only about two hours from NYC, making it the perfect quick and easy getaway. There is an adorable little town with local shops and farm-to-table restaurants but the main attraction really is the serene river setting. We spent most of the weekend lounging around our picture-perfect Airbnb (HERE) and recounting old memories from our high school days while floating in the river. However, we did hit the town one night for dinner, which is when I pulled out this dress.

My LoveShackFancy obsession has had me dabbling in the cottagecore aesthetic for a while now (see here), but this is a WAY more affordable option (only $29.99!). I honestly love this floral, free-spirited look so much, it just may be the aesthetic that I own for all of August, it’s the perfect transition into Fall.

Before you run to buy, here’s what you need to know about the dress

1) It runs big. I ordered a small and I really wish it came in extra-small. It’s supposed to be a midi and it’s definitely more of a maxi and because it has such a beautiful hemline, the alteration options are limited.

2) The drawstring is a huge plus. Even though it ran big on me, I was able to use the drawstring to cinch the waistline. If this wasn’t an option, I wouldn’t have been able to wear this dress at all.

3) It’s so comfortable, you could sleep in it. Even though this weekend was SO hot, I was so comfy in this dress. While the fabric is pretty soft (a pro in my book, since it’s been so hot), it’s also VERY soft. I truly could curl up and fall asleep in this baby.

The beginning of Fall tends to still be a little hot here in New York, so I’ll likely be stocking up on a few of the warmer prints (like this one) to get me through the first few weeks of September.
