Hello from quarantine! I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during this time of uncertainty. It has certainly been a crazy few days of feeling anxious, scared and oddly thankful all at the same time. For right now, I don’t have much advice to give as my mood changes hourly but I’m channeling that energy into a new project– The Preppy Book Club!

At the end of 2019, I started to challenge myself to read more as a way to manage stress & anxiety. Instead of scrolling through unread emails, picture-perfect Instagrams and my never-ending to-do list, I picked up a book before bed and got lost in someone else’s story. The impact was almost immediate. No matter how stressful a day felt, I was instantly relaxed and started to sleep so much better.

While the stress relief alone was enough to get me reading every night, the one thing I wish I had was a group of friends and family to talk about the books I was reading (just like my favorite TV shows). Soon enough my sister and friends were in on it and I started to think about how to include my community here on ThePreppyMAG.

The Preppy Book Club will read (1) book a month and then discuss it in The Preppy Book Club Facebook Group via discussion posts, video chats and of course an appropriately paired glass of wine. Right now, we can all use a little distraction and most definitely an opportunity to connect with some fellow prepsters, and this is our opportunity to do so!

So, without any further to do, let’s kick it off with our first 3 books!

MARCH: Followers by Megan Angelo

I actually just finished this book and it was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. If you are an influencer or simply fascinated by the influencer world, you’ll love this fictional novel. Followers brings you on the journey of Orla Cadden and Floss Natuzzi as they build their internet profiles and all the good and bad that comes with it. It’s a little dark and DEFINITELY makes you think of what’s to come.

APRIL: Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

Who doesn’t love a little royal drama? This novel is about the relationship between Alex, the son of the U.S. President and Prince Henry across the pond. Which was first meant as a staged truce between the two countries, the relationship becomes very real and romantic.

MAY: The Jetsetters by Amanda Eyre Ward

Let’s take a little mental vacation with this one. This one is about a family who spends 10 days traveling through Europe (my personal daydream) but as the trip progresses, secrets are revealed forcing the family to confront some hard truths.

All three of these books have been on my Goodreads for a while and I’m so excited to read and discuss them with you! If you have any book requests or ways that I can make this experience better for you, drop in the comments, I’d love to hear them!
