It’s MONDAY! This low-key weekend was exactly what I needed after the craziness that has been going on with the blog, work, my side hustles, my friends, my relationship, the list can go on and on. And when you have a lot going on it can be easy to harp on the bad/annoying/discouraging aspects of life. And honestly, that mindset has been tempting over the last few weeks.

Even if nothing is game changing or terrible, when your to-do list is about a mile long and you constantly have to move from one task to another without taking time to decompress, at the end of the day it is really easy to think about what went wrong that day or how you could have done something better. Usually this mindset is a result of determination and drive to be the best you can be, but it can actually severely impact your perspective on your work and your personality/professionalism.

This is NOT a healthy way to think of things and I’m definitely guilty of letting this mindset getting the best of me. However, as I’ve grown in my career (and even in college) I have challenged myself to find something good in every experience. If things aren’t going my way, I try to think about what I can learn from that experience or what new opportunities those experiences can raises.

As a generally positive person, it surprises me how hard it is to find something good in every situation. It is hard to look past the unbearable comparison game in the blogger community, the politics of the workplace, the pressure to make time for everything and everyone, the expectation to be a perfect friend and girlfriend without ever missing a beat. With things moving a mile a minute, you’re going to make mistakes and you’re going to do something that makes you think WTF, but I PROMISE there is something good in all of this.

Finding something good in your everyday does wonders for your mental health. It makes you remember that you are on your own path to success and what everyone else is doing matters VERY little. It keeps you laser focused on the goal you are trying to reach. It makes you want to do more of the good and less of the bad, helping you prioritize your workload.

With everything going on I already know the next few weeks are going to be a serious struggle. BUT I’m challenging myself to focus on finding something good without wavering for a single second. Who’s with me?!
