Dear Tom,
HOW has it already been six years since you asked me to be your girlfriend? When you asked me to be your girlfriend you signed up for six months tops (January 2013 — June 2013 when you graduated BU), but instead you got six whole years! I don’t know about you, but I’m thinking this is the BEST deal EVER!!
Time definitely flies when you are having fun and with you that fun never stops. Whether you are pushing me to travel the world (love our 3 new countries a year rule!) or snuggling on the couch in Chewbacca onesies your free spirit and playfulness is by far the best thing in my life. No, this doesn’t mean we can get more Harry Potter and Star Wars home decor for our new apartment (unless it is BB8 because he is the cutest).

This weekend, a friend asked us what our favorite thing about each other were and you had the most amazing response– my ambition. In that moment I’ve never loved you more. From the day I met you, you understood everything I wanted and was working towards in this life. Seriously, the day we met I debriefed you on EXACTLY what I wanted to do after graduation– move to NYC, work in public relations/social media, open my own business at some point, etc. (as a reminder, this was a year and a half before my actual graduation) This quickly evolved into you supporting my every move. You read every resume and internship application that first year, you helped me launch this blog (guys….he came up with ThePreppyMAG name and made that awesome logo!), you talk me through every stressor and push me to overcome every challenge.
This moment took my breath away and I gave literally the worst answer ever– he does everything for me. This is me saying SORRY! BUT, really there are just too many things that I love about you to pick just one. So here are a few things that make me fall deeper and deeper in love with you every day–
1) You’re seriously the most caring person that I know: whether sending me words of encouragement throughout the workday, saying up on all night with me when I have my chronic migraines, running errands for me, the list can go on and on, you are constantly going to the end of the world for me just to make my life easier, see me smile, or just ‘because.’
2) You love my family just as much as I do: you know how much family means to me and you’ve adopted my brother and sister as your own. Honestly, they might be the reason that you’ve stayed with me all this time.
3) You accept all my flaws and think that they’re beautiful: You know that I’m kinda crazy and you love it. You know that I push myself to the point of no return when it comes to work, family, friends, etc. and you make the most of it (i.e. showering me with unlimited snuggles, cookies and ice cream). You know that I’m always going to snooze at least 10 times and you never complain. You know that I can get really mad really quickly (i.e. 0 to 100 in 30 seconds) and instead of arguing you start giggling.

Tom, six years ago I didn’t know how much I needed someone like you. For years before that, I felt so little of myself, I felt like I needed the love or approval of someone else to feel confident or happy, but with you I have never even felt that way for a second. With you, it’s easy because I don’t stop smiling.
The only way to describe our love is unconditional and I think that is what makes us so special. I think that we both can agree that sometimes, I’m the worst. I work late hours, I take my stress out on you, I’m messy, I watch a lot of reality TV, I’m sure you can add a bunch to this list, but our love for each other is so damn unconditional it is a little comical. Comical because it may just possibly be too good to be true.

Okay, so this has definitely been the HARDEST blog post to write ever because summarizing what you mean to me is beyond words. This doesn’t even do it justice, but trust me when I say that I’ve never been this happy in my entire life and my happiness increases by like 3000 with each passing year. Thank you for the most fun, incredible and happiest six years of my life.
Love, Marie 😘
