It’s not surprise that I’m HERE for the workout dress trend and before we get started on which one fits with your needs and lifestyle, I need to state that I truly love both of these brands (and dresses) and wear them both often.

On the left, we have the OG. The Exercise Dress from Outdoor Voices that started this trend in the first place. I like to think I was an early adopter snagging this baby in 2020 when I was working from home during COVID. Since then, they’ve expanded to have all different colors, patterns and styles.

On the right, we have the newcomer, the Abercrombie Traveler Mini Dress. This is the cheaper lookalike to the Outdoor Voices version, which also comes in a ton of different colors, patterns and styles.

As I mentioned, I truly love + wear both but I do have a few tips to consider when choosing which is the best for you.

1| What are you looking to spend: Price is obviously a natural no-brainer. The Abercrombie Traveler Mini is only $69, which is a steal compared to the Outdoor Voices $100 price tag. However, as I mentioned, I bought the Outdoor Voices one in 2020 and wore it death the past few summers and it still looks + feels good as new. I just bought the Abercrombie version this year so TBD on how it holds up.

2| Are you actually working out? In reality, I rarely workout in these dresses. I prefer them as an easy, on-the-go, summer athleisure look. They are SO much cooler than leggings and way more comfortable than shorts so it’s become a go-to. However, I have tried working out in both and Outdoor Voices takes the cake. The racer-back on the Outdoor Voices dress gives me better support whereas the Abercrombie version feels more like a camisole.

3| How handsfree are you going to be? As you can see, I like to pair this dress with my Lululemon everywhere belt bag, but if you don’t want to lug a bag around with you, the Abercrombie version has a better pocket built into the shorts/leotard under the dress. It can easily fit your phone + keys. The Outdoor Voices version is more of a keys only situation.

Both are great buys and amazing adds to your Summer wardrobe. I would be LOST without mine and plan on buying a few more before the end of Summer, including this white one for my Bachelorette party in September. Share in the comments on which one you are looking to snag.
