Hello! Hello! I haven’t been sharing gift guides this year because honestly is anyone even gifting this year?! It’s been such a weird year and I know a lot of us are trying to support causes that matter over material goods like this. However, I did want to share one very important gift guide that some of you have been asking me for lately and that is for your co-workers.
My co-workers have always been like family to me so I love gifting them a little something during the holidays but this year I think ‘co-workers’ took on a whole new meaning. I don’t know about you but my co-workers were truly my rock this year. I talked to them more than my friends, my family, and potentially even more than Tom. We didn’t just talk about the work but things that really matter like COVID-19, mental health, Black Lives Matter and so much more. Being apart from each other has come with a full slue of challenges but I know we couldn’t have gotten through it without one another, which makes gifting this year a little extra special than usual.
My go-to for co-worker holiday gifts is to give something that has NOTHING to do with work. This is especially true if it is for one of my direct reports, I like to reinforce that I support them outside of the office, I support them taking space from the work, and I support their other passions in life.
This year, I’m going all-in on self-care, because we all definitely need it. This can be tricky depending on who you are buying for but self-care is all relative. For some of my co-workers, I know they’ll LOVE something skincare related like the Peter Thomas Roth face masks (I actually received this as a co-worker gift one year and I was OBSESSED). For others, I know they love a game to play if we go back into lockdown or something to up their cozy game. Self-care can be SO personal so the only thing I warn is to not take a one-size-fits-all approach.
My top 3 go-to’s: 1) my favorite book I read that year, this year it was Red, White & Royal Blue 2) a candle I find calming and right now it is the Jonathan Adler grapefruit candle (yes, the Soul Cycle candle) and 3) Tom & Ariana’s Fancy AF cocktail book because I work with A LOT of Bravoholics.
