Sunnies (MVMT – ON SALE and DISCOUNTED USING THEPREPPYMAG15)

We’re halfway through the week and I don’t know about you but mine is drrraaaggginggg! That short week after the break really messed with me. So much so, I’m keeping close tabs on the weather in hopes of a snow day. Not only because I’m an avid skier, but because a work-from-home day wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. 🤷🏻‍♀️

That being said, I know a lot of you will be headed to the mountains over the next few weeks for a ski weekend. I for one will be headed up to Stratton, Vermont for the long Martin Luther King Day weekend and could not be more excited. Since the conditions weren’t the best over the holiday break, I’m itching to get back on the slopes and actually do some real skiing.

When I’m up in the mountains, I’m skiing as much as physically possible, which means most of my time is spent in puffy snow pants and uncomfortable ski boots, but I know that a lot of you are at a loss as to what to pack for a winter weekend away. Below are a few of my packing tips for next weekend:

1| Bring the comfiest clothes you own. After a long day of skiing there is no way in hell you are going to want to put on a dress, skirt, or even jeans quite honestly! I spend most of my Vermont hours in leggings (these velvet ones are some of my faves!) and oversized sweaters. I promise that you don’t have to worry about being too ‘dressed down’! Everyone has been skiing all day and they understand the need for comfort.

2| Warmth over style. I know I’m a fashion blogger, but I’m not going to sit here and pretend that you aren’t going to be FREAKING FREEZING! Over the years, I’ve found a few workarounds that are both warm and stylish. For example, this year I bought a velvet Kate Spade puffer jacket that may just be more warm than my actual ski jacket. It is super insulated and has a generous hood to block the inevitable whipping wind. I also think the boots that I’m wearing in this post helps solve the warm + stylish problem!

3| Hats, Scarves & Gloves. You would think this is an obvious one, but through the years you would be surprised by how many people don’t remember their winter accessories. Of course, you can get started with our best-selling scarf from ThePreppyMAG Boutique. 😉

If you are just headed to the mountains for the ride and not skiing, this is outfit is P-E-R-F-E-C-T for your weekend festivities. Whether you are warming up with a Bailey’s hot chocolate in the lodge or maybe hitting up some of the other winter activities like ice skating or snow shoeing, an outfit like this will work.

For starters, this sweater is exactly what I envision when I think of a ‘ski sweater.’ The simple navy and ivory color blocking matches the adorable blue-hued town of Stratton and it is incredible comfortable. I’m so picky when it comes to winter sweaters because I never want to be uncomfortable or too hot and this sweater totally passes the test. I’m also obsessed that it comes in a Pink/Ivory option!

Even though it is freezing, it is surprisingly sunny most of the time and since you are spending most of your days outside enjoying the outdoors, sunnies are actually necessary. I specifically selected this pair of MVMT sunglasses for the winter season because I thought the white tortoise print would accessorize well with the crisp snowy days on the mountain. If you want to pick up a pair of your own, all readers of ThePreppyMAG can get $15 off your purchase by using THEPREPPYMAG15 at checkout.

Last but not least, these Nordic Wedge Boots are an absolute must-have. I’ve had my eye on these boots for a few months now and knew I had to have them in time for ski season. I always struggle when it comes to shoes up in Vermont. On one hand I want them to be realistic when it comes to all of the snow and ice, but I also want them to match my outfits. Walking in these seriously feels like you are walking on clouds, which is saying a lot considering they are heeled! 🙌

So, is it too early to start counting down to the long-weekend?! I’m definitely ready to hit the slopes!
