Two-Piece Set (ThePreppyMAG Boutique) | Bag (Chanel) | Flats (Chanel)

Sunnies (Michael Kors) | Watch (Michael Kors)

Happy Monday! HOW good did it feel to have a full weekend after last week’s weird mid-week holiday? I know that I was LOVING it. Speaking of summer weekends, today I’m talking about something that is OH TOO REAL right now– Summer Stress.

Sounds like an oxymoron, right? Isn’t summer supposed to be full of beaches and relaxation?! That is what you would think, but summer in your twenties comes with the ‘stress of having fun’ or ‘having plans’ every single weekend. When you work non-stop five days a week, you have two days to make summer happen, and it is kinda overwhelming.

Over the past few summers, I didn’t think twice about heading out to Long Island or Connecticut every weekend for some beach and family-time, but as work gets busier and the blog continues to grow, packing and unpacking that weekender (currently 25% off) every Thursday/Sunday is exhausting!

So, last week’s mid-week holiday was enough to put me a little over the edge. It was Monday night, right after I spent the full weekend in the Hamptons and I was already contemplating another train ride back out in the next 24-hours. I was knee-deep in emails and my apartment was an absolute shitshow but was I really going to let 4th of July pass me by?! I know I’m a little dramatic, but I was so worked up that I was in tears. They say it takes a little mental breakdown to put things into perspective, and I think ‘they’ are right. Below are a few key things to think about when your summer schedule seems downright unbearable:

1| Don’t second guess yourself. Things are always going to be unpredictable. Your train may be delayed, the weather may decide to take a turn, and plans fall through, but don’t ever take one of those moments to second guess what you should have done with your weekend instead. This is what usually eats me up! Oh, it is stormy out in the Hamptons and beautiful in NYC? There is no way you would have known that when you booked your share house months ago!

2| Have a plan. Summer traveling usually involves a lot of people, whether you are heading home for a long-weekend or booked a beach house with your besties. While the plan may not be the same for everyone involved, it does help limit the time you spend worrying when/where you need to be somewhere. It also helps to set expectations for the party. If someone doesn’t like where you are planning on eating, then they have some time to raise that concern instead of worrying about it in the moment. That said, if plans change, just go with the flow! Fighting isn’t worth the effort.

3| Keep it casual. Traveling is stressful enough, there is no need to add fancy dinner reservations or premium travel to the mix. Like I mentioned above, things are unpredictable and could change at any time, so why make it more complicated with additional schedules and plans. Don’t get me started on how much easier this makes it to pack.

4| Be a little selfish. This is your summer. You work hard 5 days a week, looking at out the window at the beautiful sunshine, so you get to decide how you spend your 2 days of freedom. I know better than most how hard it is to cancel plans with friends or tell your family that you’re actually not going to make it home for the weekend, but sometimes it is necessary. You shouldn’t feel guilty for spending your summer the way you want it. Yes, this even applies to those long-weekends in bed watching Netflix.

What I’m Wearing

Two-Piece Set (ThePreppyMAG Boutique) | Bag (Chanel) | Flats (Chanel)

Sunnies (Michael Kors) | Watch (Michael Kors)

Another one of my favorites from ThePreppyMAG Boutique! It’s simple, easy and totally perfect for bringing your day-time shenanigans into the night. Not only will you LOVE how comfortable this set is, but its perforated design is picture-perfect.

This time around, I kept my accessorizing as simple as possible. All black leather, quilted Chanel shoes and bag and pops of gold here and there. However, I’m totally loving this two-piece set accessorized with lots of color. For example, this pink turban head-wrap or these yellow slingbacks.

I’m not usually into buying outfits that can’t be worn to work. The way I think of it, I work in such a casual environment, if I can’t wear it there, I really won’t get much use out of it. Since this is only $23, I made an exception and can actually be super versatile. If you are wearing it to brunch with friends, wear it like I have here, but if you are planning on wearing it out to the bars at the shore. Pair with a pair of wedges or heels.

So, what do you think? Are you ready to add this set to your wardrobe?
