Even though I live in the best city in the world when it comes to the Christmas season (I mean, just look at this tree behind me in these photos), I never quite feels like Christmas until I’m home in my parent’s house. Does anyone else ever feel that way? I should probably get over that because it results in me jamming as much holiday festivities within three days and in a boring suburb…not ideal!

Nevertheless, of course there are a ton of holiday fun to be had here in NYC. One of my favorites is taking in all of the gorgeous sites like the courtyard at the Palace Hotel (where this photo was taken). It is absolutely magical and definitely the perfect place to grab a selfie if you still have time before Christmas. My other favorites are the Saks 5th Ave Light Show, Rolfs, and the Bryant Park Winter Village. These are the top 4 holiday sights and activities that have been absolutely non-negotiable since I’ve moved here 4 years ago.

Just as New York sparkles during the holidays, so does my wardrobe. 🍾  So here is your annual dose of sparkle before the holiday season comes to an end. Happy holidays and happy reading!

What I’m Wearing

The beauties at Avoir Aime sent me this holiday-perfect dress earlier this season and I’m absolutely obsessed. I’m a sucker for sequins (especially during the holidays), but as I’ve gotten older my taste has become a bit more muted making this champagne hue absolutely perfect for my current wardrobe. Above everything, I love how versatile this dress is. It is definitely not meant to be worn with a turtleneck underneath, but when it is this cold is an absolute must. That said, I can definitely see myself dropping the turtleneck if I know I’m going to be inside (or in a sweaty bar or club) for most of the night.

Mixing drastically different hues like black and champagne can be tricky. You don’t want to look or feel like your outfit is all over the place. That said, it is important to keep your base color consistent. Since I knew I’d be wearing black tights and a black turtleneck I opted for black accessories as well. And since this dress gave me some major flapper vibes, I paired it with a long-chained necklace and a long-chained shoulder bag to give it that extra swing when I walk about.

This dress is definitely on the short-list for ensembles I’m considering for New Year’s Eve (along with this one!). Because 1) sparkles (duh!), and 2) it looks so great with the turtleneck and I’ll be up in the mountains. Who else LOVES wearing sparkles during the holidays?! I’d love to hear (or see) your sparkled looks in the comments.
