How to Stay

Ah, the beginning of the semester: a time where textbooks are new, energy is up, and motivation is at an all-time high. You’re just so excited to be back in college! A few weeks goes by and that feeling starts to fade away and is replaced with the infamous mid-semester slump. You find yourself drifting from class to class, sitting there bored and procrastinating writing that research paper that’s due tomorrow. Oh and did I mention finals? It has disaster written all over it. So what’s a girl to do? Here’s a few ways to tackle the problem from the very beginning and get motivated again. And yes, it does require you to get up off your couch, stop watching Netflix and take some action (I know, so painful right? P.S. that C will feel even worse!).

ReFocus

Lack of motivation typically has to do with losing focus. Focus on what your passion is, why you’re going to college, and how this all going to help your future. If you’re truly passionate about what you’re studying, then you should be willing to do whatever it takes to succeed.

Surround Yourself With Successful People

It’s no secret that the first five people that you hang out with are a reflection of yourself. Make sure to be around people who constantly inspire and motivate you to become better…and drop the ones that don’t.

Have a Planner

Planners in college are a must and the more organized you are, the more likely you’ll succeed. Although it can be tempting to do the easy tasks first, try to finish your harder tasks first so your workload gets lighter as the semester goes on.

Feel Good About Your Accomplishments

By celebrating each of your accomplishments (no matter how small!) it’ll help you to stay motivated enough to fulfill your next set of tasks. Got an A on that hard test? Go get a cupcake!

Imagine Your Success

One of the best ways I’ve found to stay motivated is to constantly picture yourself achieving success and how good it’s going to feel once you do. It works great to calm nerves before a big exam and helps you to think positive. This method not only works well for college but for all areas of your life. Your mindset is everything!

Good luck with the semester everyone and never give up, no matter how hard it gets!
